In recent decades, the study of images and visual culture has flourished, generating a rich collection of texts and ideas that have challenged the foundations of various disciplines. However, we believe that there is still much to reflect on and share. Today, more than ever, it is essential to continue to delve deeper into these themes, combining experimentation and avant-garde drive with a slower, more refined approach.<\/p>\n
In this spirit, image[n], a journal published by the Visual Anthropology Department of the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the Hagaburu Cultural Association (Spain), has proposed to channel the experience accumulated in recent years to launch a new project with a clear objective: to produce, manage and share texts that allow us to think about visual culture from a global and interdisciplinary perspective. Our mission is to disseminate research dedicated to the study of images and visual culture from all eras.<\/p>\n
As a team dedicated to \u201cimage studies,\u201d we have developed various online projects and experiences that use electronic media for research. From this journey, the idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a digital platform to disseminate these investigations and advances in the visual field arose. Although electronic journals have democratized access to the publication and circulation of academic articles, they have also proliferated in quantity without always guaranteeing quality. In addition, the web has generated new types of readers and circulation and reading dynamics that many academic journals cannot cover due to limitations in design, time, and editing capacity.<\/p>\n
Image[n] is a journal that is constantly changing and growing, promoting a fluid work dynamic and seeking to expand its reach to readers beyond the academic field. Unlike traditional journals, it is constantly updated, incorporating new articles, reviews and audiovisual materials every month.<\/p>\n
The most contemporary and experimental articles will find their place in image[n] journal, while works conceived for book format will be published through our publishing house image[n] books. With an interdisciplinary approach and a global vision, we are committed to continuing to deepen research in the field of visual culture and image studies, offering new ideas and perspectives that promote knowledge and reflection.<\/p>\n
